Holz Tanz Iran Khorasan | Das Wort Chorasan ist altpersisch und bedeutet „Land der aufgehenden Sonne“. Später erhielt das Wort im Parthischen und Mittelpersischen generell die Bedeutung „Osten“. Nach vielen kritischen Standardlexika der persischen Sprache bzw. des Dari, z. B. Dehkhodas Lexikon, ist persisch Khorasan zusammengesetzt aus persisch khor „Sonne“ und asan bedeutet z. B. „Methode“, „Art und Weise“ und als Adjektiv asan bedeutet „leicht“. Somit bedeutet Chorassan wörtlich „Sonnenmethode“ bzw. „Sonne leicht“ und meint den Orient (Khawar) bzw. den Osten im Gegensatz von Westen (Bakhtar), der Okzident bedeutet.
